The Czech Republic is one of the countries that has managed to recover its livestock farms from a number of diseases that still occur in other countries in Europe and the world. With the help of farmers and consistent monitoring by the State Veterinary Administration, the disease situation in the Czech Republic has been maintained. The free status is granted by the European Commission and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
- The European Commission has granted the Czech Republic the official disease-free status for the following diseases: bovine tuberculosis, bovine brucellosis, ovine and caprine brucellosis, enzootic bovine leukosis, bluetongue, rabies, Aujeszky’s disease in domestic swine, infectious salmon anemia and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) (6.11.2020).
- The WOAH has granted the Czech Republic free status of FMD, African horse sickness, peste des petits ruminants, classical swine fever, rinderpest and bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and has achieved the highest possible negligible risk status.
- In addition, the Czech Republic is free of the following diseases: bovine pneumonia, bovine nodular dermatitis, vesicular stomatitis.
