For travelling with other pet animals the following requirements must be met:
Travelling with other pet animals from the Czech Republic to the EU Member States and to third countries
For travelling with other pet animals to the EU Member States and third countries, the conditions established by the competent veterinary authority of the given country must be fulfilled. The person accompanying the pet animal should always inform of up-to-date animal health import conditions – either directly at the relevant competent veterinary authority, or at the embassy of the given country.

Travelling with other pet animals to the Czech Republic from the EU Member States
No restrictions apply to travelling with other pet animals from the EU to the Czech Republic, provided that the place of origin does not subject to the animal health measures applicable to animals of the given species.
The animals must be accompanied by the owner or authorised person and cannot be intended for sale.
Travelling with other pet animals to the Czech Republic from third countries
No restrictions apply to travelling with other pet animals from the third countries to the Czech Republic, provided that the place of origin does not subject to the animal health measure applicable to animals of the given species. In this case (except non-commercial movement pet birds) the Czech Republic does not establish any animal health conditions.
The animals must be accompanied by the owner or authorised person and cannot be intended for sale.
The maximum number of pet animals which may accompany the owner or the authorised person during a single non-commercial movement shall not exceed five.
An exception applies to pet birds. For information on the conditions for importing pet birds from third countries, contact the Department of External Relations and Import and Export Control of the State Veterinary Administration via epodatelna@svscr.cz.

New and amended EU legislation governing the movement pet animals
With effect from 22 April 2026, a set of new and amended European Union legal acts will enter into force, comprehensively regulating non‑commercial and commercial movements of pet animals, their identification, traceability, veterinary requirements, and related animal health protection measures.

The above‑mentioned legal acts replace, as of 22 April 2026, the legislation previously governing the conditions for the movement of pet animals in the context of non‑commercial movements.
All conditions and requirements applicable to the movement of pet animals are comprehensively laid down in the above‑mentioned legal acts. Information published on the websites below will be regularly updated in accordance with these new legal provisions.
