VI. Requirements for travelling with other pet animals

For travelling with other pet animals the following requirements must be met:

Travelling with other pet animals from the Czech Republic to the EU Member States and to third countries

For travelling with other pet animals to the EU Member States and third countries, the conditions established by the competent veterinary authority of the given country must be fulfilled. The person accompanying the pet animal should always inform of up-to-date animal health import conditions – either directly at the relevant competent veterinary authority, or at the embassy of the given country.

Information of the conditions for travelling with other pet animals to particular Member States can be also found on the official website of the European Commission.

Travelling with other pet animals to the Czech Republic from the EU Member States

No restrictions apply to travelling with other pet animals from the EU to the Czech Republic, provided that the place of origin does not subject to the animal health measures applicable to animals of the given species.

The animals must be accompanied by the owner or authorised person and cannot be intended for sale.

Travelling with other pet animals to the Czech Republic from third countries

No restrictions apply to travelling with other pet animals from the third countries to the Czech Republic, provided that the place of origin does not subject to the animal health measure applicable to animals of the given species. In this case (except non-commercial movement pet birds) the Czech Republic does not establish any animal health conditions.

The animals must be accompanied by the owner or authorised person and cannot be intended for sale.

The maximum number of pet animals which may accompany the owner or the authorised person during a single non-commercial movement shall not exceed five.

An exception applies to pet birds. For information on the conditions for importing pet birds from third countries, contact the Department of External Relations and Import and Export Control of the State Veterinary Administration via epodatelna@svscr.cz.
